Welcome GHI’s New Executive Director, José Reyna

José Reyna grew up in the Grand Rapids area; attended GR Public Schools, earned his BA in Sociology at GVSU, and his Masters in Public Administration Degree at Western Michigan University. Reyna has dedicated his career to public service and has served as a Deputy for the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department, HR/EEO Director for the City of Holland, Assistant to the City Manager, Fiscal Services Director/Purchasing Agent for the City of Grand Rapids, and Director of Community Health Programs at Spectrum Health. Reyna currently serves as the Executive Director of the GreenHome Institute.

Reyna has served on numerous boards and commissions including; Dyer Ives Foundation, Grand Rapids Youth Boxing Foundation, Grandville Avenue Academy of Arts & Humanities, Local First, Michigan Commission on Spanish Speaking Affairs, Michigan State University Community Resource Fellow, and the West Michigan Hispanic Center.

Sustainability and environmental stewardship have always been a significant value for Reyna. Through his professional and volunteer efforts he has engaged in fund development and project management for several LEED certified projects including the renovation of the West Michigan Hispanic Center Building, the Cook Library, and the “Center of the Universe” building in East Hills. Reyna is eager to leverage the legacy of the GreenHome Institute and increase the impacts of sustainable residential property improvement and development.
